Earlier this year Animais de Rua let us know they were in need of an air conditioning unit for the comfort of the animals in their care. Street dogs and cats are highly stressed when trapped and transported to the vet for sterilisation and/or treatment.
Animais de Rua use rented vans for transportation which unfortunately, do not have air conditioning in the section used to load the traps. Animals rapidly overheat, and this is especially prevalent in hot summer temperatures and can result in life threatening heatstroke for the captured animals.
Thanks to your generous donations Animais de Rua was able to purchase a portable AC unit that can be used in a van, to ensure safe transportation for animals captured!

We would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your incredibly generous donation of a portable air conditioner to our association. It has already arrived, and we have started using it in the area at the back of our van. We are attaching some photos so you can see how it is being used and, most importantly, the comfort it is already providing for the cats.
During these hot summer days, this kind of support is especially important to us. It helps us keep the space cooler and more comfortable and reduces the risk of the cats suffering from heatstroke, which is something we worry about greatly. We are truly grateful for your generosity and for all the support you have given to our association. Gestures like this make a real difference to the animals in our care.

Pierre served 5 sparkling wines from several regions in Portugal which were paired with delicious food including charcuterie, ceviche, fried chicken and popcorn. We learned about different grapes and methods used to produce sparkling wines. It was an enjoyable evening connecting with friends and meeting new ones.

Join us at Dogma Wine Barfor an evening of sparkling wine tasting paired with sweet and salty treats curated for you by Sommelier and Chef Pierre Azibert.
Pierre has selected 4 special sparkling wines from different wine regions in Portugal, pairing them with the perfect salty food to enhance the flavor of the sparkling wine. The menu includes his signature fried chicken and blue cheese macaroni.
Pierre is a native of Marseilles and received his Sommelier training in Chateauneuf du Pape. He has worked at restaurants across the world including London and New York. Pierre moved to Porto in 2024 and currently operates a pop-up lunch spot, works as a private chef and hosts tasting events.
While we are sampling wines from the different Portuguese regions, Pierre will provide insights on each of the wineries and regions represented and lead discussions on how the sparkling wines compare with each other and the food selected to accompany them.

Our trip to Quinta das Águias raised 800€ for Animais de Rua and the Animal Sanctuary! We had an incredible day touring the farm and learning all about the work they do with rescued animals, plant and seed conservation and the sustainability practices of the farm. We enjoyed a delicious vegan meal prepared by our hosts and eaten under the beautiful trees with kitties, peacocks and Peppa pig!
Claudia and João from Animais de Rua educated us about the hard work they do for animals and their special connection to Quinta das Águias. You can learn more about Quinta das Águias on their website and on Instagram. You can visit the farm on open days or stay in one of their unique guesthouses!

Quinta das Águias is a non profit organization located in a five hectare farm in Paredes de Coura in Northern Portugal.
An organic farm and animal refuge, it is a sustainability project where all forms of life and the natural resources that sustain life are treated with respect and where every effort is made to avoid harming or spoiling them.
It was established in 2004, as a family project for Ivone, Joep and Maria, who wished to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle, closer to nature.
Associação Quinta das Águias aims to develop projects in traditional plant and seed preservation, educational projects and an animal sanctuary, currently housing over 158 animals who have the chance to live their lives free from suffering.
Meeting Place : We will meet The Road Butler at Sé Cathedral (by the horse statue) Terreiro da Sé, 4050-573 Porto, Portugal Time : 9:15 (the bus will leave at 9:30 am)
Location : Quinta das Águias– Caminho de Moreira 664, 4949-692 Arrival Time: 11:30 am We will leave the farm at 4:00 pm to return to Porto by approximately 6:00 pm.
Things to consider: There is about a 10 minute walk on a cobblestone, sloped surface to and from where we will be parking the bus. The farm is rugged and sturdy shoes are recommended. We will be walking on uneven terrain at times. Please let us know if you have questions.
This event includes: The bus trip from Porto to the farm, welcome and presentation by Claudia from Animais de Rua and Quinta das Aguias, a vegan lunch prepared by our farm hosts and a post lunch guided tour and viewing of the animal sanctuary and herb farm.

As temperatures rise, Porto Kind has been made aware by Animais de Rua of an emergent need.
