Please join us on a guided tour of the Casa-Museu Teixeira Lopes/ Galerias Diogo de Macedo in Gaia. This 18th century building holds valuable works of art and an important collection of bronze sculptures, marble and plasterboard models created by Teixeira Lopes (1866-1942).

The museum is supervised by the Municipality of Gaia, with a thematic vocation in the area of fine arts, comprised of the works of the sculptors António Teixeira Lopes and Diogo de Macedo and the collections gathered by them.

In the house, which is divided into spaces of residence and work, remains the original furniture, the originals of the sculptor’s work (in plaster, marble, bronze and various drawings in blood, charcoal, pencil and sepia), as well as works by other artists in sculpture (Soares dos Reis and Oliveira Ferreira), and in painting (Gustavo Doré, Vieira Portuense, etc.). The Collection is extensive, encompassing Portuguese and foreign faience, tapestries, furniture and small collections of decorative art.

A building annexed to the studio of Teixeira Lopes, the Galleries, originated in the agreement established between the Municipality of Gaia and the widow of Diogo de Macedo who, fulfilling the wish of her husband, donated much of the artist’s work and collection.

Pickleball and Breakfast

September 11, 2026 @ 9:30 am 12:30 pm

Our Pickleball and Breakfast event raised 325€ for APF (Associação Para o Planeamento Da Família)!
We had a fun morning learning and playing pickleball with coaches from NUIKS Pickleball. We enjoyed a lovely breakfast in their warm and inviting space. It was great to learn from experienced coaches and see what NUIKS and the game brings to the community.
You can learn more about NUIKS and get involved by following them on Instagram or on Facebook.
You can also join their WhatsApp group here https://chat.whatsapp.com/EldVXwobpdJ8Dm5VtmWM8b?s=sh&p=a&mlu=4&ilr=4 and find out about their open sessions, classes and events.

We would like to thank our hosts Pedro Gomes, Jorge Daniel, Fernando Fraga, Wendy Dixon and Cristina Giraldo for welcoming us to the pickleball community with such warmth and enthusiasm. Most of us had never played before and everyone at NUIKS was kind and inclusive no matter our skill level.
We would also like to thank Porto Kind’s own Troy Galloway for creating and organizing this event. Troy also coached and is a great resource if you would like to try pickleball!
Thank you Yasmin Alhilli for her work on our flyers.
A big thank you to everyone who donated and joined us at the first event of the fall season and making it a success!

Let’s Play Pickleball for a Good Cause!

Have you wondered if pickleball is for you but weren’t sure how to get started?

Have you played pickleball in the past and wanted to find places to play in Porto or connect with other players?

The situation has reached a critical breaking point.
The van used by APF (Associação para o Planeamento da Família) for their vital outreach and rescue work has officially broken down for the last time. It is beyond repair, leaving the team stranded and unable to safely transport the men, women, and children they serve.

Porto Kind is making a push to get them back on the road. The cost of a reliable replacement “new” used van is €17,000 (plus tax).

See our fundraising progress for the van here

The Immediate Goal: €1,500 = €3,000 NOW

You Can’t Bury Love:

The Tale of Pedro and Inês

April 28, 2026 @ 7:15 am

We are happy to announce that our bus tour raised a total of 1,991€ towards the van goal for APF!
1,841€ in ticket sales and 150€ in donations!

We would like to thank Catherine for taking us through this incredible story, with an in depth explanation of the time period and meanings of the carvings on the tombs.
Thank you to our driver Adriano and The Road Butler for a smooth and safe journey.
Thank you to Yasmin for her creative flyers and promotional help.
Thank you to Kay and Konnie for their organizational skills and support.

And a huge THANK YOU to everyone who traveled with us and donated! With your help we get closer to our goal of a new van for APF to help them continue the incredible work they do.
See you on our next adventure!

Join us on a day trip to learn about Portugal’s most tragic (and strange) love story, Pedro and Inês. A true tale of love, loss, murder and vengeance that proves truth is indeed stranger than fiction.
We will travel with Rui the Road Butler to the Mosteiro de Alcobaça (a UNESCO world heritage site) and explore their story with our guide on the trip there. Once we arrive we will visit their graves which are some of the best examples of late medieval sculpture, as well as many other Portuguese treasures.
There will be free time to explore the monastery and the surrounding town.

On the return to Porto, our guide Catherine will answer questions and talk about the political implications of these ill-fated lovers. In addition, we will explore how their story has been interpreted by subsequent generations.

Porto Kind’s very own history guru, Catherine taught medieval and Renaissance history for over 30 years. The more she learned, the more she came to realize that truth is always stranger than fiction. Join us and she will convince you that history really is your favorite subject. No essays, tests, or memorizing dates required!

Action Painting Workshop

March 11, 2026 @ 3:00 pm

Action Painting is in support of
APFAssociação Para o Planemento da Familia and our Van Goal!
Reserve your canvas here!

Spring is almost here!
A time when imagination and creative energy awaken and we are ready to get moving!
Everyone is welcome to our event at Action Painting Porto. Whether you’re a first-time painter or an experienced artist, what matters is immersing ourselves in the world of color.

Please join us for this unique opportunity to create you very own work of art!

Each participant (or pair, if sharing) works on a large format canvas, 130×110 cm (51×43 in), over the course of up to three hours.

We begin with a short introduction, but the focus quickly shifts to exploration – not only with brushes, but with unconventional tools, layered textures and bold gestures. No prior experience is needed.
Many participants arrive with a fixed idea and leave with something completely different, often surprising themselves in the process.

The emphasis is on freedom, expression and the shared moment of creation rather than perfection. At the end, the artwork remains in the studio to dry properly and can later be collected either rolled or mounted on a wooden frame (additional cost of €50), ready to hang at home.

Date : Wednesday, March 11, 2026
Time : 3 pm
Place : Action Painting Porto
R. Hernâni Torres 231, Porto

Price: Members – Single (one person, one canvas) – 55€.
Pair (2 people, one canvas) – 90€
Non- Members – Single (one person, one canvas)- 60€.
Pair (2 people, one canvas) – 95€

This price includes the canvas and everything you need to create your masterpiece. Clothing and shoe protectors are provided so we can get messy!
There will be wine and juice available, also.

Our charity for this event is APFAssociação Para o Planemento da Familia
