SUMMARY:Visit to Quinta das Águias
DESCRIPTION:Animal Sanctuary and Herb Farm – June 30\, 2026 \n\n\n\nOur trip to Quinta das Águias raised 800€ for Animais de Rua and the Animal Sanctuary! We had an incredible day touring the farm and learning all about the work they do with rescued animals\, plant and seed conservation and the sustainability practices of the farm. We enjoyed a delicious vegan meal prepared by our hosts and eaten under the beautiful trees with kitties\, peacocks and Peppa pig! Claudia and João from Animais de Rua educated us about the hard work they do for animals and their special connection to Quinta das Águias.You can learn more about Quinta das Águias on their website and on Instagram. You can visit the farm on open days or stay in one of their unique guesthouses!We would like to thank our hosts Ivone and Joep\, our tour guides Madalena and Lina\, and Kai\, Benvinda and Elsa for welcoming us with warmth and care. We really enjoyed sharing this special event with you!  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n			\n				\n			\n		\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nQuinta das Águias is a non profit organization located in a five hectare farm in Paredes de Coura in Northern Portugal. \n\n\n\n\n			\n				\n			\n		\n\n\n\nAn organic farm and animal refuge\, it is a sustainability project where all forms of life and the natural resources that sustain life are treated with respect and where every effort is made to avoid harming or spoiling them.It was established in 2004\, as a family project for Ivone\, Joep and Maria\, who wished to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle\, closer to nature.Associação Quinta das Águias aims to develop projects in traditional plant and seed preservation\, educational projects and an animal sanctuary\, currently housing over 158 animals who have the chance to live their lives free from suffering. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMeeting Place : We will meet The Road Butler at Sé Cathedral (by the horse statue)Terreiro da Sé\, 4050-573 Porto\, PortugalTime : 9:15 (the bus will leave at 9:30 am) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLocation : Quinta das Águias – Caminho de Moreira 664\, 4949-692Arrival Time: 11:30 am We will leave the farm at 4:00 pm to return to Porto by approximately 6:00 pm.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThings to consider: There is about a 10 minute walk on a cobblestone\, sloped surface to and from where we will be parking the bus. The farm is rugged and sturdy shoes are recommended. We will be walking on uneven terrain at times. Please let us know if you have questions.  \n\n\n\nThis event includes: The bus trip from Porto to the farm\, welcome and presentation by Claudia from Animais de Rua and Quinta das Aguias\, a vegan lunch prepared by our farm hosts and a post lunch guided tour and viewing of the animal sanctuary and herb farm. \n\n\n\nPrice: Members – 65€Non – Members – 70€All proceeds will go to Animais de Rua and Quinta das ÁguiasIf you are unable to attend or would like to donate to the portable AC unit\, please consider making a donation here. \n\n\n\nAs temperatures rise\, Porto Kind has been made aware by Animais de Rua of an emergent need.Street Dogs and Cats are highly stressed when trapped and transported in their cage/trap to the vet for sterilisation and/or treatment.   Animais de Rua use rented vans for transportation which unfortunately\, do not have air conditioning in the section used to load the traps.  Both cats and dogs rapidly overheat\, and this is especially prevalent in hot summer temperatures and can result in life threatening heatstroke for the captured animals. To mitigate this\, Animais de Rua is in urgent need of a portable AC unit that can be used in a van\, to ensure safe transportation for animals captured. They have found a unit for 437€.The purchase of a ticket on the bus tour or any donation would be gratefully appreciated to assist in the purchase of the AC unit in order deliver the animals as comfortably as possible. SUMMARY:Sparkling Wine Tasting with Pierre
DESCRIPTION:Our wine tasting event raised 310€ for Animais de Rua! Pierre served 5 sparkling wines from several regions in Portugal which were paired with delicious food including charcuterie\, ceviche\, fried chicken and popcorn. We learned about different grapes and methods used to produce sparkling wines.  It was an enjoyable evening connecting with friends and meeting new ones.We would like to thank Pierre and Dogma Wine Bar for an educational and enjoyable evening. DESCRIPTION:Our Pickleball and Breakfast event raised 325€ for – APF (Associação Para o Planeamento Da Família)! We had a fun morning learning and playing pickleball with coaches from NUIKS Pickleball. We enjoyed a lovely breakfast in their warm and inviting space. It was great to learn from experienced coaches and see what NUIKS and the game brings to the community. Most of us had never played before and everyone at NUIKS was kind and inclusive no matter our skill level. All levels of players are welcome! No experience necessary! \n\n\n\nFor anyone new to the game\, there will be introductory training to get you started and ready to play. The NUIKS Pickleball facility has 4 covered outdoor courts for sun and wind protection. We will play doubles so there can be 16 players on the courts at any one time. We will have rotating sessions to allow for hydration and breakfast breaks or additional coaching. Tell us your experience level on the sign up form. Give it a try or come show your skills!!! This 18th century building holds valuable works of art and an important collection of bronze sculptures\, marble and plasterboard models created by Teixeira Lopes (1866-1942).The museum is supervised by the Municipality of Gaia\, with a thematic vocation in the area of fine arts\, comprised of the works of the sculptors António Teixeira Lopes and Diogo de Macedo and the collections gathered by them. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn the house\, which is divided into spaces of residence and work\, remains the original furniture\, the originals of the sculptor’s work (in plaster\, marble\, bronze and various drawings in blood\, charcoal\, pencil and sepia)\, as well as works by other artists in sculpture (Soares dos Reis and Oliveira Ferreira)\, and in painting (Gustavo Doré\, Vieira Portuense\, etc.).
