What is Porto Kind?
Porto Kind is an organization with members from all over the world who have chosen to call Porto home.
A common theme we encounter in conversations with new residents is the kindness of the Portuguese people. Inspired by this spirit of generosity we created Porto Kind to give back kindness and become more engaged in our local community. Recognizing that many of us do not speak Portuguese well enough to volunteer directly, we focus on supporting worthy organizations through financial contributions. Since we began our efforts two and a half years ago, we have raised over €9000, all of which went directly to the selected organizations that make a positive impact in our community.
We Currently Support Three Organizations
The Family Planning Association (APF) was founded in 1967, and is dedicated to empowering individuals to make free and informed choices regarding their sexual and reproductive health. Their mission extends to promoting positive parenting and providing essential support for victims of human trafficking, domestic violence, and gender discrimination
Casa Kastelo is the first and only Pediatric Continuing and Palliative Care Unit in Portugal and the Iberian Peninsula, and the fourth in Europe. Their mission is to provide both moral and material support to parents and family members to navigate the challenges of neonatal and pediatric intensive care.
Associação Animais de Rua is dedicated to improving the lives of street animals in our community. Through their compassionate efforts, they help thousands of these animals by providing essential services such as sterilization to prevent overpopulation, medical treatment for those in need, and regular feeding to ensure their well-being.
How Do We Work?
At Porto Kind, we organize various fundraising events to support the organizations we believe in. Our events range from delightful food tastings – such as wine, chocolate, and olive oil – to engaging tours of local historical landmarks such as the Palácio da Justiça. We even host fun activities like spelling bees and quiz night that bring our community together. Our aim is to create enjoyable opportunities for participants to experience something new, make new friends, and contribute to meaningful causes. All events are organized and managed by passionate member volunteers, keeping expenses minimal or often zero, thanks to their generosity. This allows us to ensure that every donation goes directly to selected organizations.

Become a Member
From the seed of an idea, Porto Kind has grown dramatically since October 2023. We are now a legal non-profit organization. Membership is simple. Just fill out the following form, pay the €10 annual fee then, we can add you to the Porto Kind WhatsApp group. Then you will receive notifications of upcoming events and donations to date. Mission Statement
Porto Kind’s mission is to make a valued contribution to our chosen community by helping those in need. We do this by raising money and collecting donations for worthy charities in Porto.

We envision a Portugal where individuals, no matter where they came from, have a safe place to live, food to eat and opportunities for work and education.
